Physical measurement of ring sizes can be done with either a metal, paper, or plastic ringsizing device (as an indicator) or by measuring the ring's inner diameter.
Ring sticks can be used to measure the inner diameter of rings. They are typically constructed of plastic, delrin or wood and may also include different material. For precise measurements, digital ringsticks could be used.

ISO 8653:2016 defines the standard sizes of rings in relation to the inner circumference of the ring , measured in millimetres. ISO sizes are utilized in Austria and France, Germany (Belgium), France, Germany.
